Types Of Iron Vitamins
Two types of iron vitamins are heme iron and nonheme iron. Heme iron contained in animal products like meat, while nonheme iron found in plants. Another difference between heme iron and nonheme iron is absorbed by the body easier. Heme iron more easily absorbed than nonheme iron.
Zinc is required for normal iron metabolism. Vitamin A together with iron vitamins work together in preventing anemia. Zinc and iron if consumed at the same time may reduce absorption of zinc. Iron and calcium are consumed together can also reduce the amount of iron that can be absorbed by the body. Other products that can inhibit iron absorption are: phosphates, , calcium, legume protein, polyphenols, phytic acid, , copper, cadmiumlignin tannin, manganese, cobalt and soy protein. Products above are classified as an inhibitor. Inhibitor of nonheme iron has more effect than the heme iron.
